Middle Sugarloaf is up there as a favorite summit. Amazing panoramic view. Lots of summit ledges to explore. Short hike with fun ladder climb to Middle summit. North gives you views into Vermont.

28 degrees when we hit the trail at 945am....we were the only car in the lot. Light dusting of snow from last night, ground muddy in few spots but avoidable. Woods completely quiet, pristine. Went to North summit 1st and the opening view of Mt. Washington and Presidential range was breathtaking. Spent few minutes there before heading for Middle summit, where we enjoyed lunch and the same stunning view. Easy to cool off quickly on summit even without wind so headed back down. It was not until we were half way off Middle Sugarloaf that we saw our first humans. Spectacular first “winter” hike

HikingGreat!

Did this hike with our 3 kids, ages 8, 6, and 5. Zero complaints from any of them. Some rock hopping through muddy patches, but easy enough for even short leg spans. I think the view from Middle is better, but was still glad we did both. Ran into fellow hikers here and there, but spaced out, and all considerate, either pulling up a mask, or stepping off the trail to pass. Took us 3 hours total with snack breaks at both peaks and a stop at the quartz pile to fill their pockets with mineral souvenirs

The trail is well established. Easy to follow. Some steep sections but not bad compared to other mountains. Some mud due to the recent rain but avoidable with rock hops. Great views on both Middle and North

Went out not expecting much, but the views were incredible! This toke of year you really should have poles and spikes since most of the trail is covered with snow. Pretty busy with people (and dogs!) but I wouldn’t call it crowded. Would definitely hike this again!

HikingGreat!Muddy

This was a great, short hike! Views at middle sugarloaf are awesome. Bring the dog along. If hiking after some rain or snow like we did, it will definitely be muddy, but it’s manageable. I suggest waterproof boots.

Great short hike. I would consider this an easy hike for non beginners. Snow definitely makes it a little challenging but with the right shoes it’s very manageable. The views were incredible!

When we went in mid-October, it was snowy and somewhat slick and muddy. Make sure to take appropriate boots and poles if you have them. Makes the trail much easier. The views are amazing (especially from Middle Sugarloaf), and would highly recommend.
