Micro-spikes a must. Poles helpful. Beautiful trail along the 19 Mile Brook trail. Easy first 2 miles, then turned onto Carter Dome trail. Steady climb with some helpful switchbacks. Icy in places. Steep climb up to Mount Hight - absolutely worth it. Spectacular 360 views. Headed back down (some fun butt sliding) and took Carter Moriah to South Carter. Easy steady hike. Small summit, no real views, but bagged a 48 4K. Retraced our steps back down 19 Mike Brook. Great hike.

HikingGreat!

Great hike! Started at the Moriah end and hiked south. Did not see or pass anyone else making the traverse in this direction, although I am glad we went this way based on the terrain. There were a few groups going south to north. My Apple Watch recorded 17.6 miles for the highlighted route with 7100 feet of elevation gain. I would definitely do this hike again someday! Mt. Hight had some of the best views I’ve seen in the whites.

Good trail, had to bushwhack when we lost the trail. A few of us fell pretty hard! Some slick spots for sure!!
