Great hike today! Nice views to the south on the way up of the Saco and Attitash, but as you reach the summit you also have views to the north of the ridge into the National Forest and across to the Iron Mountain ledges, Black Mountain, and Double Head. Be sure to descend at least a little ways toward Mt Pickering. Just a few steps takes you away from the sounds of Rt 302 to a beautiful blueberry meadow and more views to the north. Keep descending into a very quiet zone which you stay in until maybe half way up Pickering. The Pickering summit is not far and has a view past Iron Mountain to Mt Washington. We spent a total of 4 hours on this hike, though we were seriously delayed by blueberries. We will do this again!
