Such an amazing hike! The views are incredible. We arrived very early to avoid crowded trails (around 6:30 am) and I would highly recommend doing so. We met up with large amounts of people on our way down and parking was crazy when we arrived back to the lot/road. We brought our two dogs and met up with many, many other dogs along the way. We spent about 6 hours on this hike, but definitely took our time and moved at a moderate pace.

Fairly gradual with a lot of rocks. Very pretty at the top but super windy which made it a little cold. Lots of dogs on the trail.

This trail is full of rocks, except 0.7 miles after the first mile. But the views are beautiful and you get to do a 4K footer! If you are afraid of dogs, this may not be the trail for you. We saw at least 20 dogs during our hikes, almost all of them off leash. I would highly recommend this to everyone, just carry plenty of water and wear GOOD shoes.

Great hike.. not too hard.. great 360° views at the summit!

We completed this hike as a sunset hike. The trail is in solid condition. Car to car our gps had us at 8.8 miles. There are a good amount of rocks to be maneuvered. There were also a lot of rock stairs. Some people in our group thought they were great while others thought the opposite. Great hike and an amazing view for a sunset.

First, this trail is rated as difficult in AllTrails, and as far as the Whites go, this is absolutely not difficult. There are no straight up verticals or technical points that make other hikes similar in length or elevation gain more difficult. This was absolute an enjoyable steady climb with sensational views from the top. Highly recommend it for all.

Hike was incredible. Pretty smooth for such a tall mountain. One of my favs so far.

Moderate hike with excellent views

This was a great trail - a reasonable incline and a lovely summit. We too the Gorge Brook out and jumped on Carriage Road to the south peak, and Snapper trail to get back to the trailhead. We started around 11, it was our first hike in a long time so we stopped pretty frequently, really took our time and got back around 630. It never got boring. It was a really nice loop walking next to the brook and really great views at the peak, lots of forest walking between the two peaks and a short steep section right before the south peak. It’s not an easy hike but I wouldn’t say it was super hard. i was surprised the bugs weren’t too bad, but we’d put on a LOT of repellant, so that might have been why.

Completed this hike via gorge trail Saturday June 22. Arrived late around 10 am. Crowded mountain added 1.5 miles round trip from car to trail head. Pretty muddy after a day of heavy rain. Overall excellent trail condition. Was not marked heavily. But easy enough to navigate. Took the dog and she did great. Lots of dogs as well. Two fun bridge crossings over small brooks. Once you clear the tree line the view of the summit is incredible. Gusting winds at top, around 40 mph. Had a quick lunch before weather rolled in. Hail, heavy wind, and rain on and off on the way down. Overall excellent hike, would definitely do again. Around 10 miles, about 6 hours.

Saturday 6/22 hiked up the gorge brook trail and down the carriage road trail. Had done the same route last August but the summit was fogged in so have been wanting to come back. Lots of cars but there is plenty of parking on the access road and the walk up the dirt road is a good way to loosen up the legs. Trails not crowded despite the number of cars. Trails are very well maintained which is great since we have had so much rain this year. Nice views on the way up. The summit is beautiful, very windy glad to have a jacket. The South peak off the carriage trail has great views as well. Total hike time 5 hours with about 20 minutes stop at the top, too windy to stay longer. I would rate this trail as high moderate, did not need poles, no scrambling, no sliding down rock faces. I am a fit 59 year old woman.

Awesome hike. Get there early though , parking was tight , it extended our hike by about half a mile ! It was my friend’s first 4000footer and though they had to stop and rest a few times they still loved it! For a NH hike, it’s not very rocky at all except for a few sections here and there, which was a nice surprise! No turned ankles! Best of all are the views at the top. But it sure is windy - drop your pack when you get to the top so you don’t blow over and make sure to pack a warm top!

Wonderful weather this weekend. Get there early for parking to not be annoying, but do not fear lots of cars as it holds three main trail approaches. Trail saturation of hikers was invisible throughout as we hiked up from 8:30 to 10:45. When we arrived there were 50 cars, we experienced about 10 hikers up, 5 down. 4 dogs, all wonderful and a killer lady with a leashed rabbit at the summit! Go whites and our tribe!

Great hike! It’s an easy climb up to the summit. My only issue is the trail is not blazed, many forks that could cause confusion.

This was a great hike! We went up on June 1st nearly all the snow is gone and trail is just a bit muddy. The trail is steep and quite narrow. The views from the summit were amazing!

Trail is very muddy currently as the snow is melting.. still some snow and ice on higher elevations. Very dry at Summit. Views at summit are incredible!!

Awesome 4,000’ for a first timer. Gradual incline, winding trail. Good for dogs.

Awesome hike/run. we went on 3/30/19 and it was great. the trail is nice hard pack snow. We both wore running shoes and had no problems. the gate is closed so figure on adding an additional 3 miles to hike into the trailhead from the main road. blowing snow on top of the mountain, but still amazing We hiked up and ran down.
