NOTE: State parks will be using their online day use reservation system. Visitors must make a reservation prior to arriving. Please visit the park site for more information and to make a reservation. Hit two summits in one hike. Rosa has a decent view and a good rest point before heading onto Monadnock. This trail takes a more gradual approach to the summit making it a slightly easier climb.

Loved the views from Monte Rosa, highly recommend this trail. Not as well-marked but worth it for the views and less people. We were told that the Smith Summit trail was very steep so we cut across the Amitheatre trail to summit Monadnock from white arrow. We came back down white arrow the entire way. Park rangers recommended Monte Rosa up and White Arrow down.

Quick uphill via White arrow and relatively longer downhill via Monte Rosa. Specially liked the downhill with great views mostly all the way. White arrow trail was a bit too crowded. attention: on Sat AM, the parking lot was closed for the unreserved hikers. Under the Covid, the reservation is a new normal.

Went in early April. Trails are mainly in river beds, so was very icy, esp on White Arrow. Slipped a lot. But great view on summit!

Ended up going up and back down white arrow trail. It was pretty icy. Very windy day on top of monadnock but beautiful views. Past the halfway house trail it’s pretty much bouldering from there. The majority of the trail seemed to be hiking up rocks through a creek bed.

I find this hike very enjoyable and there are less sloppy spots compared to white fit and white cross- more like stone staircases which I much prefer over sliding down on a rock slope. My only complaint is that this mountain is just too darn busy and it's difficult to really enjoy the scenery with so many folks coming up and down..best hiked on a slow weekday.

This ranking of moderate is very misleading. The start or the trail is easy enough but once you split off to start Monadnock it is very challenging! I did the white dot trail prior that is ranked as hard and this was 2 times harder than that to get to the top. Beautiful views though. Very windy so bring a jacket.

Not a bad trail. Was very buggy out and the beginning of the trail was not marked. Once the two trails connected everything was marked.

Excellent hike, a great little scramble to the top. Would recommend taking the white arrow down.
