We did the southern portion from the trailhead up as far as the point where the trail crosses the Templeton Turnpike Road with our hybrid type bikes and found it pleasant going. There were some places that were soft or sandy, but nothing that required walking and it was otherwise a very enjoyable ride. If the rest of the trail is as good, it would make an excellent longer ride; I don't know about the rerst personally, however. Also, alathough it is not shown on the map, there sis an additional leg that you can ride in the opposite direction from the southern trailhead out to Route 12 (three quarters of a mile or so..) This was obviously original RR right of way and is marked and gated as such. It runs out at Rt. 12 and where it would have continued on the other side of the road is posted private property. Overall, the parts we did left a good impression.
