Most of the trail follows old logging roads through open woodlands, and passes or crosses three picturesque streams and visits two isolated ponds.. The trail splits about a half mile from the parking area. The trail on the right goes to East Pond and can continue on to the Kancamagus Highway. The trail to the left goes to Little East Pond. The trail to Little East Pond has two stream crossings that require rock hopping and a "ditch" where part of a log stairway has washed out requiring a bit of a scramble. The trail to East Pond, which is the more attractive, has no obstacles, and can provide an in and back route for anyone with mobility limitations. That said, neither trail could be considered wheelchair accessible. The full loop goes to East Pond, then from East Pond to Little East Pond, and then back to the parking area. You can go in either direction on the loop.

I did the east pond loop trail.
5 mile round trip.
very dense woods in most places, very rocky and you cross several creeks and muddy areas. good shoes recommended.
not a lot to see until you get to ponds. little east pond doesn't give you a great view. it's kind of marshy, not much of a pond. east pond however has a gorgeous view.
overall good workout/good hike

Quiet trail with a beautiful view at the pond. Your voice echoes on the mountains, highly recommend.
