Took this from Mt Madison to Mt Washington and continued on Crawford Path to Lakes of the Clouds hut. Beautiful above tree line, ridges and saddles with views of Mt Washington and other presidentials and surrounding valleys (and the great gulf). Did side loops to summit Mt Jefferson and Mt Washington (did not on Mt. Adams). Not as rocky as the Osgood trail beyond Mt Madison but not quite as well graded as the Crawford Path beyond Mt Washington. Fantastic views (when the clouds and mist clear).

A long trip from Madison to the Mt. Washington summit. Ridge walking but very, very rocky so picking my way for 6 miles was a long day in the sun. Very exposed to the elements with afternoon storms rolling in. We made it to the top of Mt. Washington but opted to take the Cog Railway down instead of another half mile down to Lakes. It was very ambitious of us to take on this long hike and we knew to get off the mountain. We also learned that most people go from Lakes to Madison, instead of the direction we went. Going Lakes to Madison gets the summit out of the way early.
