so the beginning is overgrown and i felt lost in the dark. garfield trail is beautiful and super easy. the hike up to garfield was tough in the rain and then garfield ridge trail was tough with the waterfalls running down the trail. the hike to south twin was steep! north was an easy stroll away. overall 18 miles of wet rock but lovely trails. no views as I was in the clouds all morning.
Great day to hike. The trails up all very manageable with a more strenuous climb the last miles on each. The hut was great, water bathrooms. Dropped the packs at the hut and went up Galehead quick out and back. Then ascended the Twins, South is a beast basically straight up. The walk over to North is quick and moderate. Back at hut we headed to Garfield, that trail is a killer near the end of a long day. Met alot of folks hiking the AT and gave suggestions on stealth sites before the crowded Garfield ridge CS. Good call found a great spot. Next morning hit Garfield and then out. Great 360 views from S. Twin and Garfield. Long days with full pack and plenty of water at the hut and spring at Garfield Ridge CS. Don’t underestimate the vertical climbs in your timeline.
