Getting There

This is a scenic area with easy hiking trails that take you past a scenic pond (Dunklee Pond), several wetlands, and a few moderate hills, depending on the route you take. Locals walk their horses on some of the trails. Great Blue Heron nest in one of the wetland areas.

Parking can be found at the Silver Lake parking area (entrance to the trails at the far back of the lot), or on the street at the Farley Road entrance. Don't block the gate on Farley Road.

The place is managed by the Hollis Trails Committe. See their website for contact info. http://www.hollis.nh.us/trails/Index.html

Parking and trail access are found from either the Silver Lake parking lot (Rt 122), all the way at the back, or on Farley Road, at the intersection with South Merrimack. Google Maps or Mapquest will route you there either way.

Easy walk about. Looks like there might be some good fishing here. Saw some ice fishing holes in Dunklee pond and walked over the ice. Snowmobiles were on the trails also. Might be some hawks nesting in the swamp marsh, saw a few nests at the tops of the trees, but not birds in them right now.

Loved the trail, easy, wide and looking forward to go in the spring. Should know that they are logging in the area. Hopefully that it’s just logging and not developing.

Nice trail system! Apparently it is only open to Hollis residents (no one was checking, so I wouldn’t worry!) the main trails are fairly wide, at least 6 feet... social distancing shouldn’t be a problem as I think we were the only ones here! Good place for some seclusion and beauty. Kind of buggy but not bad, inner trails are very narrow with some overgrowth! If it wasn’t wet out, we would’ve explored more.

pretty easy. New Hampshire has two things; Swamps and rocks. this trail is full of the first one of those things.

Sunny, sixties and slippery with melting ice and puddles to cross, a pleasant walk through naked trees oh how I wanted to get lost.

Nice walk. Mostly wide open. Stretched it out to 3.5 miles by adding a wider loop. Many dogs off leash. Would repeat.

Trails weren't marked very well. Thank god I had this app helped me navigate the trails. Also seems that it's a popular trail for horseback riding which is fine by me but they leave their horses waste everywhere and in the middle to the trails. Very disrespectful

It should be known that this trail system is NOT the Hollis Town Forest, but rather the Spaulding Park Town Forest. The real Hollis Town Forest is located about 2.5 miles southeast, where the northern trail head resides on NH Rt 130 (Broad Street).
