This trail leaves the Kancamagus Highway, NH Rte 112, and follows Downes Brook south to the col between Whiteface Mtn. and East Sleeper. Turn west and follow the Sleeper trail which crosses both summits and ends at the Mt. Tripyramid Trail just below the summit of S. Tripyramid. Turn right on the Mt. Tripyramid Trail at the slide, hike uphill for a short distance, attaining the summit. Following the ridge, the trail goes over the summit of middle peak and arrives at the junction with the Sabbaday Brook trail. A short hike beyond the junction puts you on the summit of North Tripyramid. Return to the junction and descend the Sabbaday Brook trail back to the road. Complete the loop with a 1.2 mile road walk or hitch if you prefer.

The primary goal of this hike for me was to summit East Sleeper as part of the New England Hundred Highest list. On such a great hiking day, it was easy to go over the Tripyramids as well. The toughest portion is the half mile of the Sabbaday Brook trail just below the Mt. Tripyramid Trail. If you prefer climbing steeps, you can easily do this hike in reverse. Don't let the mileage put you off. This hike isn't that hard. It has beautiful softwood forests on the Sleeper Ridge. I saw quite a few moose tracks and the habitat looks good. You have a fair chance of seeing moose up high.
