The trail was fun on its own but when you take the loop trail there are many more exciting things to find along the way. It could be very cool around Halloween.

Steep going up cotton, took me 27 minutes to get to the top, then steep going down. crossing over to Livermore, it got pretty buggy. I got stung by a hornet near the top but it wasn't too bad. Going down Livermore was easy on the knees. Had to walk on the road to get back to the cotton mtn. Parking lot

We loved this trail! It was pretty secluded and we didn't see very many other hikers. I definitely recommend going up Cotton mountain first, then Livermore mountain. The first summit does not have a view but the Livermore summit is really nice. The trail is extremely well marked and thick with trees and vegetation for the whole route. We took the full loop and were delightfully surprised to come across an old family cemetery on Prescott trail. It was such an unexpected but lovely sight buried in the woods. When you exit this part of the trail, you will have to walk on the car road for a little bit before returning to the Mount Cotton parking lot. All totally worth it!

Clockwise loop, good climb up to top of Cotton. Started with micro spikes but removed them soon after starting. Nice view from the top and throughout hike since there were no leaves to obscure view, Coming down off of Cotton was steep and very icy so back on with the spikes. Well marked trail.

The first peak came up quickly; we hiked clockwise. Mt Cotton had an obscured view. The saddle between the two peaks was the most beautiful part of the hike. Livermore offered a really flat view of the lake. Apparently it’s egg-laying season for grasshoppers because the summit was covered in hundreds of grasshoppers laying eggs on rocks, in trees, grass, you name it. I’ve never seen anything like it, but you couldn’t sit and enjoy the summit. They were crawling all over us. The trip down was really cumbersome, and at points not well marked. Had high hopes after doing the Morgan-Percival loop down the street. I wouldn’t do this loop again.

hiked up Cotton then to Livermore. Well marked on cotton and decently steep. Nice summit sign at the top. not well marked from cotton over to Livermore much easier hike and no summit sign that I could find. Nice hike with good views at the top of Livermore.

Reviews here sum it up well. Nice hike, steep at points and leading to a nice view of Squam Lake. We hiked up Cotton and then over to Livermore to make this a bigger loop. The trail is really wet in spots right now - lots of rain this spring. The leaves make for some challenges at times.

Surprisingly nice hike considering the minimal and not too enthusiastic reviews. Pleasant steep climb up Cotton, nice mini view on top. Easy-ish and pretty hike over to Livermore with an even better view and lunch spot there. Lots of pretty little brooks but it was easy to stay dry in spite of colossal rain. Old highway is pretty washed out. Nice hike overall with some good views and just enough of a push without being hard.

Would plan to come on a sunny clear day next time but the hike was still nice! Cotton is steeper and with the wet fall leaves a bit slippery but all the other trails were easy waking. Especially the Prescott section - it’s just like a walk in the woods! No challenges.
