Champney Falls is a series of cascades about 70 feet long. While spectacular during high water, the falls are quite meager during dry periods. Walking time to the falls and back is about 2.5 hours. The falls are named for Benjamin Champney, a noted White Mountain artist (1817-1907) Cell reception can be tricky. Off-line map recommended.

Very icy conditions in the winter and a lot of upward hiking but worth every step! Also great if hiking with a large dog, our Golden Retriever has a blast running up and down the slopes and crossing the streams! Proper footwear and walking sticks are essential!

Hiked on 2019-12-08. waterfall was frozen but not quite reaching ground. Microspikes and insulated hiking boots. Poles came in handy for coming down ice slope.

Two of the water crossings are a little high. We were able to go around both of them. The stairs on the loop are currently a little dicey, but proper equipment made for a safe passage. Lovely hike all around.

Great moderate trail with different elements. Lots of up but with a nice payoff at the top! Could be marked a little better midway. Be sure to wear proper footwear for potential slippery conditions, and/or a hiking stick or pole.

Beautiful trail with picturesque stream crossings. During fall is a lovely time to hike this trail with beautiful foliage and the waterfall at the end is absolutely stunning even though it is very small and more of a trickle than a waterfall, it is still worth the hike.

Pretty trail. View from the top of the waterfall is gorgeous!!! Definitely hike in the spring as a small trickle of water was the falls. Still beautiful.

Nice short hike. Cool rocky waterfall area at the top with a nice view in the distance through a break in the trees. if you explore around the rocks a little, you can improve the view. the trail direction gets a little deceptive about half way up. nice little stair master at the top. cool trail.

No scenic mt views but nice waterfall. Easy with just some rock stairs near the waterfall.

Loved this hike, definitely gave me and my dog a work out. We hiked up along the waterfall and hiked down the back way. The trail was easy to follow which is good because I had no cell service to use the AllTrails map. Highly recommend this hike

I love this trail! 2nd time doing it, yes I agree it is time to mark the trail better! The falls were really moving today after last nights rain went on 7/12/19! Remember the earlier you get there the better, parking lot fills up fast $5 parking fee unless you buy the trail pass for $30 which is good for a year!

Falls were beautiful and worth the rocky uphill hike. Trail could be marked a bit more clearly

The trail was not very well marked, just a heads up. The falls were beautiful. Bring bug spray.
