I did this trail yesterday 6/7/20. We started out on Lincoln Woods Trail which is super flat and follows along the river. It has some nice views along the way. Then we beared left after about 2.5 miles onto Black Pond Trail. This is also easy and a short trek to the pond. We made it in about 25 minutes. We realized how early it still was and decided to make it a loop. It took a bit to find the trail beyond the pond but we finally did after about 15 minutes. It isnt marked at all. I didn't see a single blazer. So we basically bushwacked across and tried to follow the path as we could see where others had traveled. It isnt difficult but there are some ups and downs. Then you have your first river crossing at the very end of the trail. Some sections are deep and certainly requires some careful thought about how to cross. I am not of fan of rock hopping. So we found an area that went up to about mid thigh for me. You WILL get wet crossing no matter how you decide to cross. Once you cross you are on Lincoln Brook Trail. We continued on for a bit and had a second river crossing. Again, you will get wet no matter how you scope out your cross. This was also very flat and easy trail once you cross the river. . Then it intersected with Franconia Brook Trail. This was pretty easy and had some smaller river crossings that were no where near as bad as the first 2. Then we finally made it back to Lincoln Woods Trail back to the parking lot. This hike turned into about 11 miles for the day according to my tracker. It was a good hike just longer and more wet than I expected. Thinking back now I might have my river crossings misplaced. Just keep in mind there are at least 2 difficult crossings if you decide to go beyond the pond trail.

Pond at the end is pretty. Leave the swim trunks at home and bring bug spray. Ran into a duo who were camping near by and scared the hell out of me. Will try this again for the bushwack.

6/17/19 Took this trail to check out the pond and bushwhack over to Lincoln Brook Trail. Super easy trail. Wish I had my brought my fishing rod, the pond is beautiful. We bushwhacked from there to LBT but it would have probably been easier to stay on Lincoln Woods, and I would still have my sunglasses.

This is listed as moderate but which must be due to the distance (7.2 miles round trip from the parking area) it is an extremely easy walk in the woods. 5.4 miles of this trip in walking a very level old railway. Good views. Easy trail but long for children.
