Beautiful day and well groomed trail. Still some lightly walked paths for those that want to snowshoe fresher snow. The main trails are nice and packed. Great for dogs and kids too
easy hike not many views but in the wilderness for sure. Good place to bring family or a stroll to chat with a friend.
Absolutely beautiful!!! What a great hike, you see so many interesting things.
It was a good trail plenty of ups and downs. Great scenery Very enjoyable.
Very nice- shooting range was not as enjoyable for background sounds, but very few bugs and all mountain bikers we met were very courteous.
Great trail! Lots of hills. Many off trails. Not too many bugs. Didn’t have much to look at water wise or perch wise just very nature like. We saw a turtle on the trail, lots of feathers and animals. Will do a different trail off this next time. If you are look for a good leg work out this is not to bad.
This is going to be my new go to trail close to home! I'd probably call it easy but the distance may make it bordering on moderate. I'm late getting to this review as we went in May. Parking is fine, plenty of spaces even though we were only one of 2 cars mid week during a pandemic. Wished we had brought bug spray but they were not prohibitive and didn't ruin the experience. I'm not sure why the name Overlook trail? Maybe in a different season as the only thing you are "overlooking" is trees. A good hike for all levels, in my opinion only the distance makes it moderate and easy/moderate at that.
If you: 1. Wish we would train our own personal bat armies to fly around us and eat all the mosquitos, 2. Would like humans to rapidly evolve some sort of natural wave emission system in our bodies that repels mosquitos, 3. Or just generally hate mosquitos and wish they would go extinct already, Then DONT GO ON THIS HIKE! Aside from the mosquitos making us in to an all you can eat buffet even though we regularly applied bug spray and kept a near constant walking pace, this was an easy and nice walk in the woods. There's 0 chance we walked the distance All Trails thinks we did, but it was a good distance. And it's well marked with maps available at the trail head. This was actually more mild than most of the trails I've done in NH that are marked as "easy." Watch out for mountain bikers. They outnumbered the hikers. And yes, there's a shooting range nearby and you can hear gunshots. It wasn't all that distracting, not as much as others seemed to think. But I'm from West Virginia so shrug emoji.
2 1/2 hours of continuous gunfire, including automatic weapons. It got louder the deeper we got into the hike. Sucked away any joy we might have had. Beyond that, beautiful trails, well marked and maintained. Lovely high canopy providing nice shade and good visibility. We went on a Saturday morning 8:30 to 11. It could have been lovely.
