Belknap Fire Tower offers a great view of the surrounding area. There is also a plane crash site just down the back side of the mountain from the fire tower. The crash is a little hard to get to, but very cool.

Great hike! Took 3 kids (ages 3,5,7) and it wasn’t too bad. A little wet after the recent rain but drying out nicely. Beautiful lake views from the fire tower at the top.

Very well marked trail, quick and easy hike. I hiked it with a pulled Achilles and it didn’t irritate my calf any further. We started b 8am with 70+ degree weather which was nice. LOTS of blueberries at the top!

Super easy trail and very well marked for the green trail, Great views from the top, you can see the chairlift at the top of Gunstock from the firetower. Very good trail for dogs!

We parked at the upper parking lot, and started there. It is about 1800 ft in elevation, and the peak is 2500 ft. We actually did the blue trail up, and the red down with our 7 year old daughter once again. It took us 2 hrs round trip with stops and and time at the peak, so it is a good afternoon hike. it is up all the way, but not super long from the parking lot

Took the green trail up- very steep and difficult for those who have issues with joints (knees and ankles). The views from the top - you must climb the fire tower to see them - were AMAZING! Definitely worth the trip! We took the Blue trail down, which was a little longer, but less steep (still had some steep sections).

Went up the red trail and down the green, was a nice medium-short length hike, but there are a lot of looping trails to choose from. The dirt road up to the parking lot was a bit steep and bumpy, may be difficult in smaller cars. The cabin of the fire tower was closed when I went on 8/3/17, but the view from the lower platform was great anyways.

A short hike from the upper carriage rd lot (which is a steep and mostly unpaved, rocky drive). I then went up the red trail and down the blue. Rather similar and mostly steep, but could easily get slippery after it's rained. It was a quick hike but definitely enjoyable and the view from the fire tower is lovely

We parked at first parking area, walked up road, traveled up red and down white. Great hike! Beautiful views at top and on white trail.

Check out: for all details. So much work has been done on all the trails. They are most all in great condition and so much fun to hike. Yes, it says accessible till October, but you can walk up the auto road and hike Belknap all year, or access them via Piper or Gunstock. Snowshoe or with crampons. Fun.

Really beautiful views on the hike up the green trail. Once your to the top there's a few neat things to check out but you cannot see any views unless you climb the tower! If your afraid of heights you won't want to climb the tower so it's kind of a bummer but if you can conquer your fear for heights climbing the tower IS WORTH IT!! Breath taking views!!! We took the red trail down which seemed much harder than the green trail but still a ton of fun and there's one GORGEOUS view on this trail. Great short hike to fit into a busy day :) hope you'll enjoy!!

Great hike up the White trail and down the Blue. Approx 3mi and 2 hours. Great family hike when dry. A little rough in spots if wet Great views on the White trail. Climbed fire tower. Allot of trees at the peak better views at lookouts along the trail. Only con is allot of forrest hiking with approx 4 lookouts on the white trail on the way up. Def want the White trail for best views.

Excellent hike with limited views. Climb the fire tower for an outstanding view. Parked at Carriage rd. gate and ascended via blue blazed trail and took the red trail down. Easy hike with my six yr. old son.

I really like this section of the Belknap Ridge Trail.
The views from Gunstocks, Belknap, and Piper are very good. The fire tower on Belknap offers great views, especially when the ranger has the tower open to visitors.
The trails in this area are well marked and maintained. Lots of blueberries in July and early August.

We followed the directions to get to this trail, but did not make it. There may be an alternate route, because this way requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We will try again.

Since the tower is the highest point in Belknap County; the 360 degree views from it are amazing! Reached this peak from Piper Mtn and then traveled on to Gunstock. Pretty well marked trails with what appears to be some new fresh paint!

I hiked this mountain from the south side with a group of Boy Scouts at Hidden Valley Scout Camp. This was out first mountain of a five day trek and it was an awesome start to the trip. The fire tower has an amazing view and the nearby plane wreck is neat too. There is a nice area for camping not too far from the summit back down the south side (I don't remember the trail names), However it is small and should only be used with minimal impact camping. This is a great hike and I definitely recommend it.
