This is an interesting trail that goes among high rock ledges and ends at a hill covered with large boulders and some caves. It was snowy and icy today, so i had not interest in going up the last hill, but the short trip up there was a nice hike. Once you get over the first rise, you can no longer hear Rte 10 and it is serene and beautiful. I will look forward to coming back when the forest is green. Starting out from the parking area, the wooded trail heads up a hill to your left, marked by orange circles. A seemingly more traveled, but unmarked route on what must be an old logging road under the ice is straight ahead and meets the orange marked trail further up. It is easy to follow, but there is a lot of pooled and frozen water this way. The woodland route is nicer.
Beautiful but icy!! Want to come back when there is good snow cover!!
Very buggy, always worth it. Easy trail to the cave portion of the hike. The trail splits down to the caves or up to the top. You can also hike directly up the face of the rocks to get to the top. This hike can get to a difficult level of 10 if desired, or if you stay in the trail quite easy. The top has a “Birds Beak” rock that provides great views. *** Find the hidden cave For the more athletic and adventurous hikers. A hidden cave exsistis on the mountain. Half way up the face and half way over. Small 6 foot opening. In the summer months you will feel the cool air.
Such a great little hidden gem! I loved all of the mossy rocks along the trail and the trail itself is well marked with orange dots. Muddy in some places but not too bad.
