Had fun! Following the trail got a little confusing as it gets narrowing and climbs up. Ended up not being able to complete it (too many dogs today and my pup was having a hard time with that) but great day! Lots of pools off to the side that the dogs can splash in.

The waterfalls were very full. Great trail to explore on a nice day! Don’t forget to check out the baby flume which is a little off the paved trail.

Overall a nice hike but cut short due to current conditions. We were able to cross the river around .8 miles however after that the trail was much more narrow and icy. We only had regular hiking boots (no spikes) and decided to turn back.

Super fun hike. Amazing scenery along the way. The Basin is a sight to see. It's amazing to know David Thoreau stood in the same place in the 1800s. Most of the ice pack is gone at this point. Some portions still have a snow pack. The trail unfortunately was cut off about .9 miles into it due to the high water. I look forward to coming back and heading further to Lonesome Lake.

One of our absolute favorites! We have always said we would love to visit again in the summer and do the hike without the snow. But the snow really was beautiful!

Packed snow trail most of the way with some icy spots. Used microspikes and glad we did. Beautiful scenery, falls and the river crossing were frozen.

Just a relaxing, beautiful trail near the water. A little challenging getting to the waterfall. Lots of stumps, vines across the trail. Make sure your shoe laces are right and loops are small, or they get caught on the vines.

Not a bad trail, just way to many people! With lots of roots and mud and slippery in many places! Maybe back at another time!

Took a short hike up to the falls. Didn’t make it but enjoyed it anyways. A little slippy but really fine. A real joy to go mid week musing the crowds. There is toilet in the parking lot. For a short trail There is a lovely handicapped route around the basin

A bit muddy, rocky, rooty. But spectacular. Few people, but a noisy school group. But just having fun with their lunches on the rocks

Great trail, lots of tree roots-typical NE trail hike. Got very muddy halfway up and missed the trailmarker to traverse the river, followed up the river instead as it seems many others before us had done as well. Got pretty far up and realized we were not on the official trail when we decided to go back and found the marker to cross over the river on boulders. Overall loads of fun and good challenge.

Wayyyy too crowded. When you park at The Basin parking areas there is lots of big groups with dogs, kids, and elderly. The path at the begging to get to The Basin that you can't go in as it fenced off for looking at only is cement easy boring tourist way. There is a nice swimming pool area like as soon as you walk in from the parking area if you want a quick cool off in the beginning or end. Keep going a long the trail as you will encounter lots of wooden bridges and picture areas and less and less people the path gets more woody and tree root filled. You should go all the way to kinsman falls. There is a great some fall and swimming pool NO ONE was in off the path. Very slippery rocks like franconia falls and or most of NH so be careful. This is very easy as even people with canes and such are doing it. So just a quick pit stop for mayne nice pictures and cool off dips.
