Parked at the cannon ski resort parking lot near the trailhead. Lots of ice on the trail and microspikes are needed. You need to scramble to get to the top of bald mountain. The last section was too dangerous for dogs to climb up so I stopped at a viewpoint facing cannon mountain with Lafayette to the left and called it a day.

A little narrow and very steep at the end. We came up through artists bluff. You can actually come up from the opposite end, parking lot side and it would have been so easy! If you don’t have time to do both, I’d come up the shorter side. View is not as good as Artists Bluff. But you can see pretty far

Great short hike with a good view of Franconia Notch. 20 minutes to the top with just a few short scrambles.

Views are good, especially for a short hike, but not great. 4 or so scrambles up 6-ft or so rock faces, with good hand- & footholds

Very quick easy hike. Enjoyed the views. Went last Thursday. At the top is a bit of a scramble. But easy enough! Should have went onto artists bluff but did not

Kind of a hidden gem on the other end of a big empty parking lot in July. A steady incline for the most part with some leveling out but very steep at the end- wonderful views at the top! Totally worth it even our little dog was up for the adventure!

Amazing trail! It is rocky and has a bit of a climb, but worth every step! Not a good hike for young children and elderly adults due to the climbing. Make sure to loop to Artists Bluff!

The views from the summit are fantastic. Be sure to keep going around the loop to Artist’s Bluff!

Awesome little cutie of a hike. Was finished in less than an hour and the views were stellar. If you’re weighing effort vs. reward then Bald mountain is hard to beat.

Perfect for a short, fun, challenging hike with amazing views at the top. Some rock scrambling and icy parts but so worth the view!

I’m usually focused on getting to Artist’s Bluff, but took the time to add Bald Mountain today, and am glad I did! After the trail splits, it’s a nice, short rock scramble up to some great views of Cannon and Echo Lake. Maybe it’s just when I’m up there, but Bald Mountain seems to get much less foot traffic than Artist’s Bluff. To me, it is quieter and more contemplative, while offering similar (though less striking) views. Enjoy! :)

Moderately challenging climb to the summit. Great view when you reach it

Best views in the park for the effort. A couple of steep grades where my dog needed help but other than that a doable climb. One of my favorites hikes in the notch.

Moderate for most of it, then steep and rocky at the very end. However, it is very short, and the views are great, especially considering the effort required.

My favorite go early am to find the trail head park across from cannon building when you park you’re facing an empty lot the trail head is across the lot slightly left at tree line HAPPY TRAILS
