Really nice, beautiful hike with an amazing payoff. Hiked with 4 kids, ages 5-11, and my senior parents 65+ years old.

Drive through the mountains, lakes, forests and farms was gorgeous and interesting. Dirt road to the boat launch parking area was well maintained and smooth. Boat launch has 5-6 parking slots meant for boat trailers, plus room for 5-6 more along the edge of the driveway.

Trail starts as a 4x4 accessible maintenance road, a bit rocky. A lovely, crystal clear small stream crossed the trail, easily forded by all. We crossed another muddy swath with no issue. There were some ups and downs, but no major elevation change.

The trail then turns into a narrow winding path with moss covered roots before it opens to a wonderful 180 degree view of Lake Winona, Lake Waukewan, the river between them, and some smaller ponds.

Overall, an impressive payoff for a short, pleasant walk in the woods! Everyone loved it!

This was a great little hike! Not that long at all probably only took us 30-40 min. Including hanging out at the top. Felt more like a nice walk through the woods which was fun. Very easy walking. Very doable with kids or baby on your back like I did. Parking lot is at pond which was a bonus view an it even had toilets. Trail is located above parking lot so just hike out on road to the next right and you’ll see the sign.
