I believe the mileage on this trail is inaccurate. We hiked from the Spooner Summit picnic area to the South Camp Peak and we recorded 10 miles in and out. The trail head sign also showed 10 miles though it doesn't specifically say South Camp Peak. There are great views much of the time, plenty of shade and a lovely bench built at Lake View Point to enjoy your lunch.

I don't know what South Camp Peak is, I have done the section from Tahoe Meadows and over Snow Peak to Spooner Lake, about 23 miles. The Tunnel Creek section over Snow peak to Spooner Lake 3 times as part of the Tahoe Rim trail 50k endurance run in July, and the other section as a day hike. The views of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Marlette Lake are spectacular.
