Cool trail! Make sure to follow the markers and watch for ice. Great for a moderately challenging quick trail run.

We loved this hike. It was not difficult so all levels can do it. It’s wide, it’s got lots of different terrains which was cool. The views of Washoe lake were so beautiful! And there’s many options to other trails!

This hike is more on the easier side of moderate. Heading in towards Ophir Creek is more like a walk with minimal inclines and declines. The loop back towards Lower Meadow Loop is where it becomes more moderate, with some rocks in your path and a few uneven rock-covered trail areas. The trail is well maintained and designated with signs, meanders along the mountain, with nice shade amongst the tree cover. It passes over several dry and wet streams, crossings of logs and rocks. Lavender wild flowers seen everywhere during this time of year.

The trail going towards Ophir Creek was a lot easier to follow, in spite of it still being covered with snow. We found where it looped back, but had a very hard time keeping sight of the trail. We took the lower loop. Lovely scenery. Our 8 yr old son loved climbing on the snow! Lots of cover from the trees.

6/22/19 Looks like it would be a beautiful walk. Unfortunately, there is still snow covering the boardwalk. So we couldn't go further than .4 miles in.

Great snowshoeing conditions. Snow decently packed and easy to traverse. Super nice to go through the trees. Keep GPS though.

A beautiful hike/snowshoe with plenty of options! Sunrise on the meadow and sunset on the ridge make it that much better...

Kids loved it. Just at the edge of do-able for our five year old twin girls.

A lovely hike through meadows and forest. Mostly level — calling it “moderate” seems a little strong.

Portions of the trail from Tahoe meadows allow bikes on even days only. However, many parts of the trail are not fit for bikes and needs repair. Also, as of July 24, large portions of the trail are still snow covered making it hard to follow and dangerous. Recommend hiking this trail only!

Great for families with young children, even grandparents. Improved trails with little elevation. Very scenic. Parking is right at trail head. Choice of loops from easy to lite moderate. Short drive from incline village.

I am lucky to have a friend with local knowledge. We started snowshoeing at Tahoe Meadows and shortly turned right into the beautiful woods. In less than a mile we were at Chickadee Ridge at just under 8,700 feet. It has a spectacular view down to Lake Tahoe. And right before the woods opened up at the ridgeline, we stopped to feed the chickadees. With a little patience, they will come eat the seed right out of your hand!

Windy & beautiful day

The trail is great for kids, but beware of an aggressive coyote protecting a den. It was paving the trail and would not let hikers pass.

Great hike for families. There are trails of various lengths. We took our three year old on the lower meadows loop it was just over 3 miles easy to see trail and pretty flat and easy to walk. Will definitely to it again.
