Subalpine meadow teeming with flowers and wildlife... ideal for a quick, flat hike with the entire family The paths that meander around Tahoe Meadows are covered with footprints and signs of mammals, the air is filled with songbirds and raptors, and the ground is alive with masses of wildflowers and trees. This hike has no particular destination and it's not going to get you anywhere other than familiar with nature. A natural history field guide would be a welcome companion on this walk because you will have a chance to use it often.

A beautiful spot especially at sunrise, and for when the family is visiting!

Beautiful and lush in Spring. Great for strollers, children, dogs.

Easy hike and great for kids! I also noticed a family with a stroller and another family with a wheelchair on this trail, so it’s a great hike for all abilities. It was a brisk and chill wind, but with a nice fleece or windbreaker it wasn’t too bad. My 4 year old loved stopping to read all the ‘stories’ on the interpretive signs.

Easy sweet trail. August no mosquitoes but most wildflowers done. Brisk, cool constant wind.

A really wonderful loop trail for a family with three young kids ( under 3 years of age)! Trail was dry, with all the meadows green and lush with flowing rivulets everywhere.

Still snowy and slushy at points. Snow may be coming tonight. Probably not for everyone until later in the season.

I had issues with the altitude here. Otherwise it is a nice wide open area good for snowshoe or cross country skiing.

Really great hike especially on a snowy day. Highly recommend it but you might need chains to drive up to the trailhead

Always one of my favorites hikes - easy for all levels and quiet and peaceful! Takes about 1 hour to do middle loop if you stop to enjoy and take photos

I had so much fun exploring the Tahoe Meadows area on a gorgeous December afternoon. And I could not have picked a better location to go snowshoeing for my first time. After a beautiful trek through the woods, we ended up with an amazing view of Lake Tahoe from Chickadee Ridge. We also stopped to feed the chickadees along the way...what a memorable experience!

First of hike for me for the Spring 2014 season. Lot's of snow still on the ground, it was a little hard in terms of route finding.
