Stateline Lookout is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Incline Village-Crystal Bay, Nevada that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This paved trail begins in Nevada and ends in California at an old fire lookout with beautiful views of the Lake and mountains. Although this trail is paved, it is steep with a grade of 8% to 12% for much of the trail so it is not considered wheelchair or stroller friendly. It typically has a width of at least two feet. It may be too steep or narrow for some manual wheelchair or stroller users without assistance.
It is suggested to park below the gate on the street and make sure to not block any of the residential driveways.
Steep at first otherwise easy. Quick up and back nice views with benches at top!
Absolutely beautiful! The hike was a little shorter than we had anticipated but the views were stunning almost the entire way. Not a difficult hike, but the first bit is slightly uphill. The loop at the top was so beautiful we had to walk it twice. Highly recommend this trail!
Beautiful scenery. We went at the end of March. Snow and ice on some parts of the trail. Lots of wind at the top. Relatively easy hike for adults and children around 10 years old.
Easy hike with beautiful overlook. It was slick in spots. Didn’t need snowshoes but I could have used my pole.
Very easy hike. I recommend hiking shoes or snow boots. The snow was packed down pretty well so hiking shoes worked fine for us. Came on a Tuesday and the parking was on the road right next to the entrance.
Beautiful trail. We didn’t use snow shoes (it’s very packed down) but poles were helpful as it can get icy. Incredible views of the lake. Great benches at overlooks along the trail and the top to stop for a bite to eat and take in the views. There is a bathroom near the top- just make sure to bring hand sanitizer and toilet paper if desired.
Beautiful Blue Bird day. Went up with Microspikes and then switched to snowshoes for fun exploring at the top and down in snowshoes. Some did in snow boots only.
The majority of the trail is icy, it was easier going up then down. Definitely wear hiking boots and not tennis shoes or Ugg type of boots. The views are pretty, but there are a lot better places to go I think. There is a place to go to the bathroom, but I don’t think it being maintained right now, my dog refused to go inside it was so bad.
Amazing little 1.6 mile hike!! Did this in the snow and the trails were cut out great! Highly recommend for a great view and walk/hike on the snow.
