Parking is a bit of a challenge. That's a great thing as everyone else will have the same issue! I'm always a bit wary of a trail that goes down from the start but this one really isn't too long or steep. Lot's of big trees to enjoy. A large meadow that you'll catch glimpses of. The harbor is fairly small, but as beautiful as all the others in Tahoe. Nice having the signs about the bit of history associated with the area.

Lovely and easy trail down to the water. Crystal clear, would be nice in warmer months to take a swim. Old party house was cool. I can imagine this hike is very busy in the summer as there were lots of people hiking it in April cool weather. A boat was in the bay anchored for a lunch break too.

Great hike down to a not too busy section of Lake Tahoe. We love to bring a picnic and enjoy the day from this spot. The old party house is pretty neat, I can imagine all the Gatsby type parties that were thrown here back in the day. Getting back to the road is pretty steep so pack lightly.

This was a pretty simple and straightforward hike with a really small but awesome beach. My puppy loved every minute of this hike and was sprinting all around just checking out all the smells!

Beautiful beach at the bottom. perfect for a day trip with kids. It is dog friendly as well. The beach can get busy and parking is an issue. Arriving early or late in the day will increase your chances of getting a spot. Trail can be a bit exposed so bring sunblock and H20.

Visiting from the Adirondack Mountain area of upstate New York. The grandeur of the Sierra's surrounding the emerald Lake Tahoe is a sort of beauty I have not experienced before.

It was a nice hike which was extremely easy to do when compared to other hikes in Tahoe. Saw lots of dogs and my pup had fun. Sure made him tired.

Skunk Harbor is beautiful. I would have labeled this trail as easy with some moderate parts which is a slow grade back up to the trailhead. The weather was cool fall crisp and perfect with few people on the trail. If you have to park at the second lot and don't want to get run over by cars finding your way to the trailhead there is a winding path from that second lot that connects to the trail. Great for letting dogs leash free enjoy playing outside. The scene at water's edge was breathtakingly peaceful.

A stroll down from the highway to a nice bay and old abandoned home. Lots of people on boats off shore on the weekend.

Nice hike. The main trail is wide and unobstructed due to being a forest service road. Did it in flip flops. Short cuts down make it fast. Short cuts up make it a challenge. The main path is easier for the climb back especially after swimming and rock jumping. Beautiful cove for swimming.

Beautiful beach at the base. Easy to go down but a workout climbing back up.

Was a nice walk down to the water. Breaks off on two paths (one wider path and one narrower/more challenging) once you're about half way. The water is stunning, warm and a beautiful little piece of paradise. There are some small boats anchored in the area while people hang/swim. Parking is tricky and limited during the weekend so try and go during the week! Will recommend and would love to go back!

Great little hike, my advice ...stick to the larger path instead of the short cut if you have small children or a cooler. Once you get to the shore,There is little to no beach, it's mainly all rocky shore.

This hike starts from the 28 freeway and follows a forest service road. There are a couple of points where you can get some nice views from the trail. There are some mountain biking trails that can shave off some of the mileage, but would make for a steep ascent. Dogs are welcome on the trail but please pick up the deuce and take it with you.

Great hike! Secluded beach, recommend getting there early. Lots of mosquitos!! So many it kinda ruined the day but nonetheless was a cool spot.

A beautiful hike with many breathtaking views. I highly recommend it. Skunk harbor is beautiful and there is a historical building with marker there.

the lake area was far more crowded than I expected it to be, but was able to find a little cove in the rocks to be alone. Was a great hike, would do it again for sure

The hike was nice. The bugs aren't bad yet (but I figure their coming). Great day, breezy, easy hike.

The parking might be an issue as the season progresses.

The lake is still extremely cold, so don't dip your toes in too long.

You haven't seen lake Tahoe until you've seen Skunk harbor!

My hands down favorite area of Lake Tahoe. I went twice in the last year and got very lucky to have to whole cove to myself for a couple hours. The key is getting here early to beat the crowds because by mid morning, this little cove has been known to turn into a party zone.
It's a very easy stroll to the cove. A little harder going back up due to the incline, but still not bad. My dogs were able to accompany me so feel free to bring yours.
There's no sign or official parking lot. Look for the turn off just past the gate to the service road. The turn off will hold maybe 8-10 cars if everyone gets creative. So get here early.
