Got to a couple spots that weren’t very stroller friendly. I do believe we made a wrong turn and if we would have gone the other way it would have been less treacherous. The split in the path wasn’t marked so we just took a guess. Very beautiful and lots of photo op spots. Will try again and go the other way to see how it turns out next time.

Beautiful shaded trail right on the Truckee. Several benches along the river and then a big marsh area to watch all the birds. There is a large homeless camp if you go along the railroad but everyone seems to mind their own business. Unfortunately, no dogs allowed.

Mostly clear trail. A bit overgrown and muddy, but a very nice walk.

Nice easy hike. Shaded and beautiful views along the river. If you’re going to hike here I recommend doing it in a group of at least 3 people. The area has been overtaken by the homeless and you just don’t know what you’ll run into. Saw lots of skunks

This is a well-shaded walk. The trail is easy but often muddy if it’s rained. Lots of nice trees and some wildlife.

this is an amazing trail next to the river, lushly tree-lined, with the sounds of the birds. So calm & peaceful!

Nice and flat walk next to the river. Today only 2 spotswhere the river washed up on the trail, still totally passable. If your looking for a tree lined stroll this is it.

Found a used syringe in one of the seating areas along the river. Beautiful walking trail just be cautious.

The Oxbow Nature trail is a good loop for a work break, lunch, or time after work. It is about 20 minutes if you take back the path along the railroad. Beautiful fall colors of the cottonwoods, combined with sunshine and a river, make it a peaceful pleasant autumn family spot. One word of caution: I tried the path back along the railroad, and it dead ended right next to the parking lot, but a gate was closed. I managed to squeeze through the small gap, but some people may not. In the future I will just take the same route back along the river. It's more scenic anyway. - Mike Cutler, trail blogger, earthtrekgear

did this with my 1 year old walking by himself. We love the different scenery in the trail. Walk next to the river the first half and a stroll through the trees that the blue jays just love! Love all the birds. Close to the freeway, but can hardly hear it while on the trail.

It’s absolutely beautiful here right now. The ducks are nesting, the plants are coming back to life, the river is flowing, and the trails are dry. Super easy little nature walk, nice way to catch some fresh air on your lunch break!

Nice area to explore in town. With the river so close, it drowns out most of the city sounds. Lots of wildlife with different birds and animal tracks. Will probably be prettier in late spring and summer months when everything is green. Lots of signs saying no dogs.

Great easy spot to go walking with young kids, brand new viewing area that has been installed since the flooding, has some great song birds. Train is nearby, if you’re looking to totally ditch the city noises that will be the main thing that interrupts, but for my kids that was just icing on the cake at the end of our walk. We’ll definitely do again.

i love this spot for what it is, but I would not really call it a hike. It's more of a nice walk or a place to have a quiet lunch.

4/1/2017 - Disappointing- closed!

Sun Feb 19 2017

Closed at 3pm. Must be due to the rains.

This weekend due to all of the rain there was no trail to be seen. Everything was flooded! It was still fun to try and explore the area as much as we could. The "glassy pond" was more like a flowing river! We did get to see some snow flurries while we were there which was really cool.
