Most hiking guides will lead you to Oak Creek via the scenic loop road/pkg. area. This is fine if you prefer a shorter hike that drops you right to the creek. This description is the route that horses take and leads you through the lower canyon and creek. The trail is normally hot & dusty June - Aug so begin early and watch for snakes. You will surely enjoy the brilliant red soil & cliffs in the "hidden" canyon (great picnic/rest area). Horses have the right of way but many don't respect it so beware.

Took this trail a few weeks ago - nice easy hike. Really more of a walk, and lots of trails to deviate on to. The creek was bubbling though, and that was nice.

Hiked this trail 1/21/17, mountains were still covered with snow and some of it was melting which meant the creek had water and the melting snow created a waterwall! The colors were just amazing!

It makes me crazy that you ask for a review yet don't offer Horse Back Riding or Equestrian as the activity!!!
