Really pretty views. The trail can disappear on you though.

Amazing rock formations! I was running out of daylight and headed back before the peak. Found myself wondering several times if this is the area that they filmed "The Hills Have Eyes". Loved the natural caves and the different colors of soils along the way. Never would have found the trail head and ended up parking about a mile away and walking in. There are cattle free-ranging in the area so be cautious.

So this hike is unlike all the other trails I have been to around here. It starts with a walk down a dirt jeep trail. If you take the left route, then the rest of the trip has no trail. It's a scramble up the mountain, primarily walking through a dry stream bed. At more then a few times your climbing up rocks, very steep walls, river banks etc.... I say all this to make a point... This is not a boring trail, and you will work hard to make it to the summit. I have not walked the longer route so I cannot speak to it. The view from the summit makes everything totally worth it.
