Great trail to a lovely ten foot waterfall, perfect for a rest. Only one on the trail, glad I started early (7:30 am).

It was a good idea to start early as it would have been brutal to climb up in the heat. Narrow, single track, and lots of loose rocks in lots of places. Waterfall at the end was a nice prize for the effort. Good view of the valley all along the way and shade here and there.

This hike is a great distance; three miles up and three back. Lots of switchbacks. Great views of the valley. Pretty waterfall at the top but not much space to stop for a picnic. The trail is a nice grade for the elevation that you are climbing. The trail is very narrow so it is tricky (but manageable) to pass and still keep socially distanced. The town of Genoa is charming so allow some time explore and have bite to eat.

Beautiful scenic hike. We counted 28 switchback starting on Carson St. to waterfall. Took us 4 1/2 hrs.

Beautiful trail, nice views throughout! Decent shade throughout the trail. Switchbacks help with incline.

Nice hike, not that bad for incline since there are a lot of switchbacks so it cuts down on it a bit.

Beautiful hike. Although the elevation gain is significant, the switchbacks make the hike very manageable. The trail is well maintained. We did the loop. It took 3.5 hours. We put in at the Saloon and that trail is a mix of sun and shade. After crossing the creek to return, the trail is in full exposure of sun. Beautiful views, wildflowers and the waterfall is enchanting.

This is a great hike - but need to be prepared for the climbing and steep drop offs in the first three miles. But it’s all worth it.

We hiked this trail with our dog this morning. The hike started at 0730 and we didn’t see any other hikers until our way back down. The trail is narrow and you definitely want to make sure your canine friends are leashed/under control. Passing other hikers wasn’t terrible because everyone was kind and made way for each other. We probably saw four different groups of hikers and were done with the trail by 1000. The first couple of miles are pretty steep with loose rock. But the waterfall was worth the work. Our dog loved playing in the various points where the trail crossed the water.

Did this last week. Wonderful trail, especially for plant life. Tons of biodiversity near the water when you first get going. If you’re looking to social distance probably not the best one for it. I encountered way too many people to feel comfortable outdoors during a pandemic. But it was a very nice hike. The waterfall was diminutive and lovely, don’t let people bash it by saying it’s “small” in an unimpressed cynical way. If you’re a real lover of nature and like a good hike that will get your blood pumping, I definitely recommend this trail. Try and go during the week when there are less people.

Started over by The Genoa Bar and walked up to the Genoa Canyon trailhead and hiked over to Eagle Ridge and walked down Foothill Rd back to where I started.

Nice steady climb. Good leg workout. Pretty views the whole way. The waterfall was nice. Not real big but my husband and I ate lunch and filled our water bottles there. Downside was people not keeping their dogs on a leash. Had 3 dogs come up and rub on us soaking wet. Please keep your dogs under control. Some people don’t want your dog licking us!! Not a very busy trail. We only saw 4 people the entire time. Great afternoon hike!!

This trail is such a workout. The climb up is manageable just don't give up. The waterfall is not huge but it's pretty nice to hang out and have lunch. The first Creek was filled with butterflies and was so pretty. The trail is narrow tho so you need to be careful.

This is a great hike! Our 6 year old daughter was able to complete the entire hike. My only complaint is the water fall wasn’t very big but it was still beautiful.

Very enjoyable trail. After about 2 miles we started to have patches of snow and ice...none of it was a problem. Loved the different looks and feel of the trail. You would go from direct sunlight and more open spaces to shade and thick trees and bushes. Pretty steep at the start but levels off once you get past the waterfall on the way to Sierra Canyon Trail.

This was a really great hike! Took my mom and my daughter based off the 5.4 mile AllTrails rating, but it’s longer than what is stated. Not too big of a deal - my daughter was a trooper and the 3 of us committed to making it all the way. Two different GPS tracking devices we had tracked us at 7.3 round-trip miles. Recorded from trail head to waterfall, and back again. The switchbacks make the trail interesting and the views are beautiful. The uniqueness of the narrow trail was a welcome change and provided some excitement. There was some snow/ice near the start of the trail and quite a good amount as you get closer to the falls. We wore our snow boots and didn’t have spikes or snowshoes, and we fared pretty well by staying to either side of the trail in the snow and avoiding the ice skating rink that was straight down the middle. If going in only snow boots, make sure you’re confident in your balance and be sure-footed. For now, avoid going in sneakers or low-rise hiking shoes. Recommended to bring spikes and possibly poles if you want more assurance.

Great views of the valley. Very steep dropoff on narrow trail so be sure-footed and OK with height! Dog-friendly but for dogs that don't pull on leash because you will need your balance. Encountered now at the top from the storm during the weekend before. Awesome experience!
