Start out doing Whites Creek trail but ended up going to churches pond due to snow conditions at the Junction. Did not make it all the way to churches pond about a 1/2 mile in snow became too deep for choice of hiking shoes for the day

Gorgeous day. Encountered a few icy patches - traction devices might be helpful for the steeper icy patches but boots were ok. Plenty of people out in sneakers. Deep snow only at the top but the trail is well broken.

A good hike if you are in decent shape. I'd consider it "hard." Every step was uphill on the way there. Super easy coming back down.

Not for those who are out of shape, but it can be done if you put your mind to it. The entire hike is straight up the mountain.

Very Hard, 3.6 to the pond and about 2100 elevation. We encountered 4-5 people on the trail. bring lots of water! Coming down was a bit hard on my knees but not my teenagers:)

Very tough trail but worth it at Church’s Pond; variety of sun and shade; straight uphill the whole way; lots of nice people along the way! Better to get an early start!

A great and difficult hike. We call this hike a butt lifter. It’s straight up. Not too crowded even though it’s so close to town. Some shades and a lot of exposed area. Start early! Great cardio workout. Awesome views at the top. Quite a bit of water still. We saw a dog swimming. We never go in. Heard there are leaches.

HikingGreat!

This hike takes some determination to complete during the dogs days of summer, that is for sure! Have done it many times, and those steep switchbacks never get much easier. At least the scenery is stunning, and the trip back downhill goes quickly!

HikingNo shade

Yep, this trail was hard! Turned around about 2/3 of the way, we did get a late start too and the moderate cover was less and less the further up. I blame myself for turning around, I read it wrong from the sign and thought it was a 7 mile loop not one way lol

Pretty steep and a little rocky! More of a moderate hike than difficult. Overall super cool hike and not too busy at all, maybe saw 5 other people in the early afternoon.

Love this trail! We went really early and had lots of shade on the way up. Back down was a bit sunnier but still a good bit of shade. The climb is steep but we took breaks and it was fine. Gorgeous views at the top of the climb and the pond is small but so serene!

It was overall a really pretty trail. Got super steep in some parts but with taking breaks I had no trouble. The view at the top is pretty, but the pond is not. There were a lot of wildflowers on the way to the pond though, so it was arguably worth it.

One of my favorite hikes so far. The views did not disappoint. Steady incline and a decent amount of shade.

Hiking

This is my go to for a quick hike. It's close to town, so it's easy to work into a busy day. I like the fast elevation for a work out like you would get from a longer hike. It also seems like it's less crowded than the easier trails in the area. The lake is in a fairly deep bowl, so it doesn't reflect the sky like some of the other mountain lakes do.
