Chimney Beach Trail is a 2.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Carson City, Nevada that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Hiked this trail as it connects to about 4 others in area. A mix of trails that take you to 3 secret beaches. If you connect and loop all the trails you can make it 4-5 miles. Not that busy let’s dogs run free. Great to go in afternoon for lighting. Only part that can be moderate is the uphill back to car. Not much parking - on side of road- but about 4 spots and 3 access points to these trails
Kept my parking spot from the hike up to Merlette Lake (recommended!) and crossed the road, figured I’d squeeze in one more lake swim before heading home. The actual path was a bit off GPS-wise from the map but may have been my service. I stopped at chimney beach, just a few groups here 2pm on a Wednesday. Water felt great. Love how not crowded it is in October!
Cross the highway!!! If you are going to the beach. Good view over there, clear water but a group of teenage were playing noisy music on Saturday :/ kinda ruin it, will go next time during the week
what a beautiful beach love it is just a small hike to to beach and you can enjoy all day long. Cristal clear water to swim. the only thing is a little hard to go back. but other in that is great.
Went here this week. Small parking lot was full at 9:30am on a Tues. Parked across the street on the highway. Pretty short trail to the beach. Easy on the way down. The trail is very easy if you're hiker, as it isn't much of a hike. Most people I saw were wearing flip flops headed down to the beach and bringing a lot of belongings, but I wouldn't recommend that. There is a steep incline/rocks, so at least wearing hiking sandals/shoes. The beaches at the bottom are gorgeous and probably my favorite in Tahoe. On the way back, there are many ways to go so I can see how people could get lost, so try to remember the way you came.
Best beaches on Tahoe for their small size and relative lower use than most other public beaches. If you go from 9am-12 or anytime after 5, it is incredibly peaceful, during these times I saw 10-15 other people at most. Please note the second beach this trail leads you to is a clothing optional beach. Best part about this is that makes it even less crowded!
Beautiful hike to the beach! It’s better to get there early as the beach can get super packed !
Beautiful hike but be warned it leads to a nude beach! Worth the trip:!
