Callville Trail is a 1.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Boulder City, Nevada that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area charges a fee to enter. Fees are $25 per vehicle or $20 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot or bike the fee is $15 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $45.
The trail itself is just a dirt road to a remote power station. Not exciting unless you like hiking dirt roads. There was a trail off the dirt road. So I did the side quest loop. Overall not a super exciting hike but was nice to walk.
Trail is a little tricky to find, but it was a nice, easy, trek to the water. Very quiet and peaceful.
Nice view at the end of the official trail, but to make it really fun, head up the trail that goes off to the right and follow it over to the right. Keep following past the weather station for the best views. The rocks here (off trail heading toward battleship rock) are very sharp - through many parts my dog wanted carried just because it hurt her paws - dog boots recommended.
I expanded the hike to Battleship Island which is no longer that. The hike ends up being 5.7 miles round-trip. It is interesting seeing the items that used to be underwater - sunken boat, mussel shells - and walking along land-bridges from one land-mass to another.
