One of our favorites and my 1.5 year old loved it. He climbed higher than I could! Very awesome for leg workouts.

it's open. in fact, we didn't have reservations for Red Rock Canyon (you need em' Friday, Sat and Sunday), so we parked in this free lot and have a wonderful time. Good restrooms, picnic benches and lots o f options for various hikes... for FREE. we wanted a challenge so we did Calico Basin. Once the scramble up began it became a 'make your own way' style summit. Beautiful and fun.

Don't know if anyone has been able to hike this recently, but with the mess of construction there really wasn't anywhere to go. I'd recommend just picking a different hike.

Beautiful scenic hike, slippery rocks, be prepared with water and snacks, warm clothes during the winter. Always watch where your stepping. There’s shade when the sun falls behind some rocks

The first half mile of the trail or so is basically gone now, you have to wander through a construction area. Once you make it to the trail though it's great, hardly anyone around and trail is super easy to follow. The trail on here stops randomly part way up the peak at the end, if you go all the way to the top you have to do some spooky class 3 (maybe 4?) scrambling but you're rewarded with absolutely amazing views in every direction.

Pretty decent trail. It is scattered but it’s fun to find your own path and explore. There are inclines but nothing too crazy. The only thing I would say is that when following the directions go further up and begin at the opening where the homes are. Less likely to get lost and easy to find your way back

Active construction site, there's no direct route to the main trail. you have to go above or below the highlighted trail. Saw several workers, nobody cared I was there. Look for a line of electric poles, that's your path. Nice easy scramble around the loop.

Trail was open. Lightly trafficked. Grueling ascent immediately and intermittently, thereafter. Beautiful landscape with everything you would expect from Calico Basin at Red Rock Canyon. Perfect for our family of 3, including our 4-year-old son, who loved it so much that he begged us not to leave!

Trail was open, though saw very few hikers. Easy trail - not marked but obvious. Very cool rock formations and views of the surrounding mountains. Wear the right footwear - the trail got very rocky in most stretches. If you go in the Summer, even early morning, the Sun can still be brutal - bring water.

I really liked this trail, one of my favorites in the park. The beginning was a little tricky to find the main trail (app is helpful) - but after that pretty obvious route. The views are outstanding the whole way - and the end point vista was surprising to me. Some slight scrambling, very fun. Follow my instagram for more adventures @julie_journeys
