Bluestone Mine Trail is a 7.7 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Yerington, Nevada that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and off road driving and is best used from May until September.
off road driving
There are several off roaring trails that intersect and lead to each other so you can pick a variety of different routes. There are no trees on the mountains so it is easy to pick out which trails you want to go on and unlikely that you would get lost. That being said, that was why I gave this trail a 3, there isn't much to look at. I didn't complete the full trail, but I walked on several different routes on the visible trails. There is no trail head, I just parked along the street corners of 3rd and 4th. The trail itself is fairly hard packed sand. Nice views of distant mountains and Yerington.
If your're into mining sights this is a good one. There are a few buildings standing, mill foundation, plenty of rocks to collect or admire, and many roads for 4wheeling and hiking. However it is close to yerington and there is some trash and graffiti.
