short walk up stairs. interesting to see the petroglyphs

Neat to see the Petroglyphs but I hate exposed heights and these steps are terrifying. You can feel the wind through them and honestly, you see cool Petroglyphs in Petroglyph Canyon. BUT, they were neat to see up close.

A 50 feet walk then stairs up the rock. They are petroglyphs so it’s always amazing to see such art. Please don’t write on the rocks!

Neat climb up a staircase to get a close look. But there is also more petroglyphs to look at all around the bottom of the mountain.

This is a climb up some stairs more than it is a hike. The petroglyphs at the top are really cool and you get great views of the desert. The surrounding area is also really cool and fun to explore. Definitely worth a stop.

This was so neat but sad to see the graffiti on the petroglyphs

This one was nice because the glyphs were very well preserved - the overhanging rock kept out the elements for the most part. There are also tons of glyphs all along the base of the rocks. We walked for about ten minutes, not seeing anyone else there, and kept seeing wall after wall of petroglyphs. It's an interesting little area, and is worth the quick stop even if you don't want to climb the stairs.

So little time and so much to see. I'll definitely go back to see all the different eye candy.

Really nice parking and picnic area. Easy to get to. Wish they had more info about the petroglyphs... how they were made, what they might mean etc.

Not quite a hike, but a trip up some stairs. The view at the top is pretty spectacular however. and you get to see some interesting petroglyphs. It is unfortunate that people have vandalized the formation with their own carvings.

Cool petroglyphs, quite a few stairs to get to them.

Everywhere in Valley of Fire is a great experience

Friday, January 15, 2016

The whole park is beautiful, and there are so many adventures that one can undertake. Unfortunately, there are scumbags who somehow think it's appropriate to damage the petroglyphs. Maybe one day there will be a collective effort to hunt these pieces of garbage down, beat them to a pulp, and throw them off a cliff. For those that actually appreciate our national and state parks, including the irreplaceable native art, there is much to be explored and admired at Valley of Fire.

I included pictures from hikes in the Valley of Fire state park in Nevada. it was well worth the short drive from Vegas and 10 dollars to get into the park.

The staircase is quite formidable, but not much of a hike - just a few feet from the parking lot. Still this is very worth stopping by if you are in the park.
