Windlass Hill Trail leads to the crest of Windlass Hill, where the deep ruts carved by thousands of covered wagons are still visible on the bluffs. Sweet spring water made Ash Hollow a major stopover on the Overland Trail.

The history of the area is nicely displayed. It is a nice paved path so I wouldn't call it a hike.

Trail significant for the viewing of the trail ruts. Great views of the country. Sod house unique. The main campus of Ash Hollow is 1 mile north were their are other trails, visitor center, etc.
