Great, paved trail in the Omaha area. Full loop is 6 miles, but you can cut across the bridge to make it 4 miles. Well maintained. Can get busy due to covid. Great for biking, running, walking.

Nice wide, fully paved trail for walking and biking. Restrooms and play areas are currently closed due to COVID. Moderate plus traffic on Memorial Day weekend. Saw deer more than once. Saw a bald eagle, blue heron, woodpeckers, flycatchers, orioles. Saw canoes, fishing boats and kayaks on the water.

Fully paved and well maintained trial around the lake. Forested areas and prairie. Usually busy. Lots of dogs and polite bikers who always alert you if they are passing. Lots of deer, rabbits, squirrels, and turkey to see. We love to catch frogs and fuzzy caterpillars as well. Easy to access. Lots of parking. Hilly but not difficult. Fishing areas. Benches to sit every 100 feet(ish) so if you have some physical difficulty this trail is great to take little steps towards progress. Great place for sledding in the winter. There is also a dirt trail for off leash dogs and lots of short well walked dirt trails of the main trails if you like to bushwhack. Theres a few small kids playgrounds. Sounds of the freeway are prevalent:( You can access from highway 370 or Giles road. There is land bridge down the middle of the lake if you want to do a half loop. There are a few bathrooms and drinking fountains along the way. You can rent bikes at the Giles entrance. About half the trail is shaded during the summer. Boating, kayaking, paddle boarding (bring your own).

this recording encompasses the outer nature trails and mountain bike trails surrounding the main paved walking loop. some sections do utilize the paved path but only briefly. not advised during summer months as ticks heavily infest the grassy sections of the trail. otherwise, highly recommend.

Today was a beautiful day to take off our hiking boots and walk this trail. 6.73 miles in 1:52. The trail was absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. Views of the lake and even some very tame deer along the path. We saw all sorts of people; old, young, kids and people biking. All were very friendly! 10-17-2019

couple section not easy to follow trails would be helpful to have some better markers. or at least a good high level map showing path at entry points. I had to use my phone to see which path to take a couple times but was a good path to walk was windy in the open but a good walk otherwise.

Went for a ruck with Team RWB Omaha! A great network of paved paths and nature trails. Plenty wide for opposing bike/jogger traffic. Lots of trees, but still sunny. Views overlook the Chalco Reservoir. Lots of parking throughout... restrooms just off the paths in the parking lots. Everybody on the trail was very friendly. A little bit of funky air as we passed the nearby sewage lagoon... but not too bad. If you take advantage of both the paved paths and nature trails, you could go forever! Oh, and check out the Natural Resource Center in the park.

Excellent, well-maintained trail in a scenic environment. There is a lot of variety here, with ups and downs, lots of trees and vegetation, plenty of open spaces and of course, the beautiful lake. This is a long walk that may be difficult for toddlers and I know my small dogs would never be able to make it the whole way around. The path is large enough that it is definitely wheelchair accessible. I went on a Friday morning at 10:30 am, so I did not experience a lot of traffic on the path. The bicyclists I encountered did a great job of announcing themselves. I will definitely do this again. It feels so secluded despite the fact that it is so close to the city.

My wife and I use this trail as a warm-up on our way out to Colorado. It was a great foot hike and was very scenic. We saw several wildflowers and wildlife on our way around the lake.

I was surprised by Chalco! There was a lot of nature and wildlife for it to be in the middle of town. But the lake is really beautiful, and the surrounding prairie and wooded areas were pretty as well. It is not much of a hike, more like a walk, as it was mostly flat and paved, but there are little grass trail offshoots that were fun. I also liked that it was almost 7 miles, since I like to hike/walk more than 5 miles a day. It wasn’t crowded when I went, as others have complained in reviews. Would definitely recommend for a relaxing walk with a great view.

A family favorite for nice paved trails with a few small “nature trails” that provide variation. One section of trail is currently closed for renovations, however there are some connection options that still provide an opportunity to complete the loop.

Running

Pros: - Paved road but soft grass to the side - Clean/Excellent upkeep - A lot of easy to moderate elevation transitions - A good mix of open areas and shaded areas - A lot of rest benches Cons: - Paved road so there are a lot of cyclists. They tend to go fast so you really can't wear headphones/earphones while running. I just saw two cyclists zoom by while runners were forced to jump out of the way Overall, this trail tailors more to cyclists. If you plan to run this trail, make sure to keep your headset music at a low volume so you can hear incoming cyclists.

I LOVE this trail!! It's huge. I do the 5.8 mile loop, but there are options to expand the length. It's paved. There are some tough inclines but they are short and spaced out. Completely surrounds the lake. Great spot!
