Well thought out and maintained trail system, with a shortcut if your time is limited. Saw ducks and a goose today. Nice shelters for a lunch or if a rain blows up as it did today. Scenic lake and ponds, good cover for fish, and good boat ramp. Nice gazebo on the lake with a bridge connecting it to the main trail. Will definitely go back to explore this park.

One of my favorite trails in the Omaha area. Slightly over 3 mile loop around the lake. Beautiful sunsets at night! Paved trail, restrooms, and workout areas. Highly recommend.

great trail with lots of options from quick and relaxing on road biking to more challenging off road dirt paths(with signs that say difficultly and include ramps). scenery is beautiful and the path is kept nice and clean. Lots of great areas to workout as well! I would reccomend this path to anyone.

I went out and hit almost every trail in this run tried to avoid paved paths, rode some horse trails but mainly dirt on this ride. I need a camel back I wonder if it's better then a backpack.

The trail has easy parking and 2 lots. One lot is next to a small playground and the other close to the pier and outdoor bathroom. The entire trail is paved and stroller friendly.

Headed out for a chilly jog with Team RWB Omaha! A nice paved path, plenty wide for opposing traffic. About 3.3 miles around. Very little elevation. The views are pleasant - overlooking Walnut Creek Lake, waterfowl resting en route to a warmer, more southern home. The southern reservoir was frozen and locals were ice fishing... waving as we jogged past. The recreation is in a low-lying area between suburban neighborhoods, with paths connecting it to Papillion-LaVista South High School, and SumTur Amphitheater. Plenty of parking!

A very nice and well kept paved path. 3 miles around the whole thing. Birding wise it's good for field birds and sparrows in the fall/winter. Some migrants through the spring. I've had over 150 species there.

I’ve been on this trail 3 times so far. It circles the lake and is very peaceful. It’s pretty well maintained throughout all seasons. There was a bit of ice last year in winter months. I love that it is a perfect 5k loop. This is my go to trail this far.

Walking

I have been walking this trail for many years. It is a concrete trail that is very well maintained. It is beautiful in the evenings and is often quite busy. There is not a lot of shade but the trees and vegetation have grown in nicely over the years. Water fowl is frequently seen here and I saw a mink the other day. There are two parking lots for access. This is a family-friendly lake, accommodating strollers and wheelchairs. It is a long walk around for a small child but it’s an easy walk with only slight elevation changes. One of the best things about this lake is that except for a handful of houses, housing is not close to the water. This is a very safe location and moonlight walks are highly encouraged!

The loop is great, and the off leash area close by is the best by far in the area

Loved this trail, only bad side is they have trails going to places that end, like up to the pavilion on the hill, you have to back track down to meet the main trail, some signs that says where it goes and if it dead ends and you need to turn around (did have horse trail you could print use, but not if it's wet/muddy). Great for walking, running, jogging, bicycling. Has other trails you can explore, when it's not wet or muddy. Playground area, boat dock.

Great local walk. The ice is frozen over now with ice fishers in their huts out in the center of the lake. Deer tracks on the ice and in the snow.

A walk in the park. Easy 3.3 mike paved route. There are a number of off ramps that allow people to get off the beaten path and experience some mild terrain as well. A decent mountain bike trail as well. Take your family and the dog, this hike is made for everyone.

We live really close to here and it has become our default walk, ride and run for when its a nice day and we just want to get outside. Its mostly flat, with one small hill and is paved the whole way around. There's always plenty of people of all ages out fishing in the lake, and sometimes they even catch something!

been going here since I was a teenager. I have a dog I like to bring with me and my 11 month old son has been enjoying it too since he was 6months old. I do have to say keep your eye out for people that don't have their dogs on a leash and people that don't restrain their dogs when you are trying to run/jog. Make sure to bring water. And my only complaint that I know is natural is the goose poop alllll over the trail in the best part in my opinion of the trail.

Walnut Creek has a 5.0 mile mountain bike/hiking trail. It is maintained by THOR. Most of the trail is beginner friendly but has more challenging trail features incorporated. To access, park in main lot off 96th street and ride to east of lot and there is kiosk and trail map there.
