Unfortunately, the AllTrails trail head is a remote entrance that requires, at least part of the year, bushwhacking about 1/4 mile to the dams. Next time I would enter on the East side where the main entrance and parking lot is. This time of year, I found that any hiking off of the dams or crushed rock lanes, amounts to bushwhacking. There is no shade on the dams but nice views of the lakes. I went at 8am and there was only one other person in the Area. There was a rudimentary but equipped bathroom near the main entrance.

It’s a good trail if you’re looking for almost no elevation. One can find great spots for fishing and kayaking.

If you are looking for the sounds of nature, you will not get it here. Between the interstate noise and target practices, not a hiking trail. Find a different trail and you will be happier. Had to cut mine short because it wasn’t any fun.

Would be a nice little trail - but too many guns!!! Area allows hunting - and idiots out target shooting about 10 yards off the hiking trail is WAY WAY too close for my comfort.

Good mixture of open prairie and woodlands hiking. Pick up your trash!

Great little outing. Mainly open trail. Lot of noise from interstate, but with headphones the traffic noise was not bothersome

I've lived in the area my whole life and had no idea this wildlife management area existed. Really cool to discover a place like this so close to home. Was fortunate enough to get there two days before they closed it down for archery hunting for the rest of the year. From the trail head, you head East down a relatively unkept vehicle trail (I almost didn't go that way) until you get to another vehicle barrier where the grass is mowed and walking gets much easier following the vehicle path. I'll be going back again for sure.
