Nice quick hike for people who want to see the landscape of Scottsbluff not too far from the main roads! The path is paved so it is easy to follow.

The South Overlook Trail is a very easy hike and well worth the view. A great place to view all the surrounding bluffs. We combined it with the North Overlook Trail for an easy 1 mile walk around Scottsbluff National Monument.

Brief, but fun little trail with good views of the surrounding buttes. Make sure to wear plenty of sunscreen on sunny days.

Great little trail on top of Scottsbluff National Monument. Great views of surrounding bluffs and the surrounding area. Great flowers and plants depending on time of year. I try to make it there whenever we visit family in the area.

If you are a photographer it's worth the trip. Wanted to climb the long trail but was closed due to landslide but the landslide looked weak and probably could've kept the trail open in my opinion.

The South Overlook is at the end of a .4 mile asphalt path that provides a scenic view of Mitchell Pass, and the Scott's Bluff National Monument Visitor Center. One can clearly see four of the five rock formations of Scott's Bluff: Crown Rock, Dome Rock, Eagle Rock, and Saddle Rock. Remnants of the Oregon Trail are also visible as it crosses Mitchell Pass.
