This trail came up in a hiking search and I’m not sure why. I personally like hiking spots to be a little more secluded, and this park is literally right in the middle of a neighborhood. The lake was pretty and the path is flat and well maintained. Maybe a better spot for riding or just for a leisurely walk. Would be a nice spot to walk with a date or friend.

This is a fantastic path! The actual trail around Newport Landing is only 3.6 miles, however. There is another portion of trail on the other side of 180th. I did a little extra today and made this walk 5.15 miles. The trail is wide, in great condition, mile-marked, and is a good balance of ups and downs. It'd be great for walking, running, or biking.

I biked this trail on a beautiful Saturday morning in May. The crowd was pretty light. I looped the lake twice and also went over to the Prairie View Lake Trail on the other side of 180th Street. The Newport Landing side of the trail is paved and well maintained with gentle ups and downs along the way. There are nice views of the lake and also the fields surrounding the area. The area seems rife with activities--fishing, boating, walking, biking, etc. There were also a dozen, or so, Canadian geese along the trail just hanging out. Overall, I really enjoyed this trail.
