Beautiful trail following creek! Little droplets of rain here and there. No bears today! Definitely steeper in the beginning- good for beginner elevation hikers like myself. Pup loved the babbling Brooke!
Do NOT bring horse trailer all the way in. No place to turn around....unless you have a 2 horse trailer. Trail was short for horseback but still beautiful scenery. Cute creek with a few short wood bridges. Horse stepped off one side of trail into a bunch of fallen/washed down wood/debris.... very scary. All in all, a very nice relaxing ride
Pretty, peaceful trail. Didn’t go the whole way because there were large animal bones about 1.4 miles in. The trail was also muddy in some parts. Lots of fallen trees but none that blocked the trail itself. Only saw 2 people on the trail, at the very beginning, who were mountain biking. Overall, an easy trail with nice scenery.
There was a carcass in the middle of the trail, but other than that it was beautiful!
A great hike if you are looking for an easy/moderate one in the thick of the woods. 2 hours-ish. The first half of the ascent (last half of the descent of course) is pristine with a few creek crossings. This would be family friendly. No traffic at all except for 4 people-but it is was a Wednesday I did this one.
Hiked yesterday, ran today and my husband bikes both days. PERFECT TRAIL for any of the above!!
Hiked this trail Aug. 4th, 2019 with 4 friends -- we all really enjoyed it! The trail runs along the creek for a good portion, with small bridges crossing it multiple times. The wildflowers abound and are stunningly beautiful. We saw a snake and varying insects. We also passed a large dead animal about halfway up; hair all over the trail, the bones were clean but it was still giving off a good amount of stench.
This was a fun little hike. Ran into a handful of other hikers. You get to cross over several creeks. Lots of wildflowers. You walk up to the road heading up to Red Lodge Mountain. The trail was muddy and rocky in places.
Great hike. We had a 5 year old and a 3 year old with us and they did well, the 3 year old spent a decent amount of time on my shoulders. Muddy in spots but I had normal running shoes on and did fine. Warning if you happen to be doing this in the next few days, there was a dead elk or deer on the trail near the top, otherwise this was a great short hike.
Short and sweet hike. The run off is pretty heavy right now (mid June) so there is mud and water in the trail in places. Would be an easy hike for a family. Almost 2 miles in and back out. Ends at the road. The creek is beautiful and everything is green right now.
