Hike up Cascade creek to Lava Lake. Continue east on the main trail and you will come to a flat mountain top called Table Mountain. It is located in the Spanish Peaks and offers great views of the Gallatin canyon and the surrounding mountains. The trail past lava lake is very steep and rocky.

Awesome trail! Spend most of trail above Lava Lake above the Tree line so the views are spectacular. The trail is slightly obscure near the top but cairns easily guide the hiker. Lots of elevation gained but totally worth it.

We hiked in from Big Sky to Lava Lake, ended up being 25 miles or so. It was pretty up on Table Mountain and welcomed flat area!
