easy, wide, flat trail with plenty of picnic tables, benches, doggy bag stations, and pit toilets about halfway along. perfect for a nice easy walk with nice river views and some mountain glimpses. shared trail with bikes so keep an eye out. there are several offshoots that will take you down to the river's edge. fun to explore and snap some photos.

I could not have picked a better trail for myself. I am a 62-year-old man and have not done much hiking. I do walk but there is clearly a difference between walking and hiking. The trail is wide, It begins with an initial incline that pretty much flattens out. As you were heading up and through the trail the Swan River is on your right the entire hike. The sound of the rushing water crashing against the rocks was just amazing. The further you go with the hike the closer one becomes to the River. There looks to be some very good fishing spots. Had I not had my dog I would’ve liked to have tried to skip a line and see what I come up with. The only negative that I have is not the trails fault. It is posted everywhere the dogs must be on a leash. There is always one knucklehead who does not think the rules apply to his dog. Be prepared in the event the dog comes charging.

Great, easy trail for the whole family. Access to the river at many points along the way.

More of a nature walk than a hike. Trail is very well maintained, certainly wheel chair accessible. Lots of picnic benches along the trail. Several mini trails that lead down to the water along main trail. Dogs are allowed. A very peaceful walk in nature.

Really a nice nature walk. But only a walk. Good views of the river. Worth it if you got some time to kill.

Completed this on 9/18/19, a very accessible and wide trail along the water. Lots of folks walking dogs. Definitely recommend taking the offshoot to see the water up close. Good spot to stretch your legs.

Very easy 4.5ish-mile hike/walk on a wide gravel path with little incline. We saw a deer, an eagle, some bear scat and had beautiful mountain and water views out and back. There is a bathroom at the dam - about 3/4 miles in. You can hike down to the water on one of the offshoots along the way. Parking off Monroe is limited. On a hot day, it’s nice to have shade, and there is some, but there are parts that are wide open, so take sunscreen and water.

Easy walk down a gravel road that follows the river. Pets allowed. There are some path ways down to the river and it’s absolutely beautiful. We spotted a whitetail crossing the river.

Easy walking trail. Scenic. Sporadic shade. Restroom about halfway up trail. Some cut trails down to Swan River...which our dog lived for a refreshing dip. Bring a hat on sunny days.

It was a road that ran along the river. The river made it pretty but it was mostly in the sun. It is good for families with young children since it is very easy....more of a walk than a hike. We took a side path (not marked on All Trails) down to the river (maybe access for fishermen). It followed the river for a while but we ran out of trail and found an overgrown trail back up to the road. Made the hike more interesting .

It was a road by the river. The river made it pretty but other than that it was just a road and mostly in the sun. We did go off trail and walked along the river but ran out of trail and made our way back up . Looked like it used to be a trail or is just river access for fishermen.

Come on AllTrail crew! This is a dry dirt road with hot sections and lots of people. Only a few stops at the river gave it a 2 star.

This path is perfect for what it is, a leisurely walk with beautiful views. The only reason I put hiking as the activity is because we went off the main trail several times to walk along the water and away from the crowds. The path is wide gravel, easy even for strollers and wheel chairs. Plenty of people, dogs, and bikes. The bathroom is a handy feature. The reasons I’m giving it a 4/5 are the sights and sounds of the highway across the river. Took under 2 hours total even with a few stops and detours.

If you are a folk who doesn’t enjoy crowds, begin your walk/run no later than 9am. What I have noticed through the years of running this trail, most people will not stay on their side of the trail. This makes me very mad and annoyed. This isn’t England people! Just keep running on your side of the trail and eventually they will move. And about the dogs not on a leash, tell them to put their dog on a leash. It isn’t that hard. But please stop complaining about little things like that and giving this trail not a very high rating. This trail is a clear 5-star rating.

Beautiful trail. Lots of irresponsible people with dogs off leash every time I have walked this trail with my (leashed) grouchy senior dog. Please be responsible, folks, so everyone can enjoy the trail.
