We hiked up to the lookout yesterday, if you start from the parking lot you walk up the old logging road then you get to the trail where it starts to switchback up the mountain and a sign that says 3 1/4 miles to the peak and lookout. So it’s more than five miles out and back, we used a gps device and it showed 4.6 miles up, so 9 miles total. The trail is nice and gradual uphill, but brushed in and could use some clearing out. Beautiful views and area.

We turned at the Stahl Creek road not to Stahl Trailhead and we did the hike up to the lookout from the end of this road. It was a great hike and was very well marked. (Trail # 80) was about 7km to the lookout. Did round trip in 4 hours.

Gnarly hike all around. Went a bit early and had to push through some snow but was overall fun and worth it

This is more like a 9 mile round trip hike. You hike about a mile up an old logging road before getting to a sign indicating a turn off the road. That sign states the its 3 1/4 miles from that point to the peak and lookout. So, it’s definitely more than a 5 mile round trip solely based on that. The logging road is easy hiking, but the switchbacks to the peak are a steady pitch. It’s well worth the effort as the views at the top are absolutely breathtaking!

Really like this hike. Fairly shaded in the forest for most of the way up. Nice scenery wile ascending through the forest but where this hike really shines is at the lookout on top of Stahl Peak. You can see forever in all directions. Nice little lookout shelter with a wood stove and windows all around. You could actually stay the night here if you were so inclined. Funny Marmots ( I call them whistle pigs) on some rock faces just before reaching the top. The hike out and back is actually 7.5 miles long, not 5 as listed.

One of my favorite trails in the Ten Lakes Area, 360 views at the top and if you get there early enough you can spend the night in the old fire lookout. Most of the trail is pretty easy, and there some shade but once you leave the trees you'll want something to cover your head/face!
