What a beautiful hike! The water is absolutely raging right now! We didn’t see any wildlife except for a few squirrels. Seeing the lake from the top was beautiful! The dog enjoyed a nice swim once we dropped down into the bottom. There were some muddy spots, but it was a beautiful hike! Best part, almost no bugs at all!!

Loved it. Took my two dogs. I'd say it's best if your pups aren't afraid of water - there was one stream crossing about 8 ft wide that you can cross by walking on logs. My dog (and I) ended up putting a foot in the water, which was only about mid-shin deep. The couple ahead of us also reported seeing bear cubs in the meadow 10 min before the lake near the end of the trail, so keep an eye out and make noise as you hike.

Nice easy day hike! With the water moving so fast it is a perfect time to get out and do this hike. Unfortunately, I was not very satisfied with the end view. Overall, it was a great hike.

Nice easy hike, very little gradual elevation gain. Some ankle high water on the trails in spots with the river being so high right now but nothing you can’t get around. Beautiful hike with how full the river is right now. Perfect time of year to hike it. Kind of anticlimactic finish to the hike, however.

Pretty easy hike. The river was high and covered parts of the trail today. It was easy to hike up the rocks and go around those areas though. Still some pretty wide water crossings closer to the lake. The hike had some pretty scenery and the river kept us cool.

Anyone looking for a mellow, easy trail, this is the one! It’s pretty muddy in some spots but there are ways to go around it. The Beartooth Backcountry Horsemen do an amazing job keeping the trail clear and hiker friendly.

Great hike but the real beauty is in the first mile or two waking along the river. The views throughout are amazing but the lake at the end is slightly underwhelming. Still an amazing trail and very easy to do!

Excellent trail with breathtaking scenery. Cool temperatures at the start beside the rapids. I recommend jeans or comfortable pants due to heavy foliage at certain spots. Trail is fairly busy for about the first mile. It is a horse trail as well, so watch for the droppings. I did the trek to the Flood Creek Bridge which is 10 miles round-trip. Small children may tire quickly within the first mile. Bring two bottles of water and some trail mix. Remember to bring all your trash back out with you. Happy Trekking!!!

very lovely hike. the lake can't really be called a lake, but on such a gorgeous day it was all stunning.

Great hike for everyone.

Beautiful, well maintained trail system. The “refrigerator effect” from the rapids is refreshing for the first mile, and there’s some great lookouts when you leave the river bank a few miles in.

Great fairly easy hike. The trail had some muddy spots still but that's probably mostly due to horse traffic and a wet spring.

I would like to start out by saying this is a really nice hike but when you get to the lake which seems to be more of a wide spot in the river kind of a disappointment but otherwise the views are awesome and the hike was fairly easy I’m way out of shape but the trail was marked and not to bad the hike back is way less hard the going in

Enjoyed hiking this trail with family. Pretty easy hike. There is part of the hike where the hill is steep for a little bit, but not terrible! Gorgeous nature views, and the lake is breathtaking!

I've done this horseback and on foot, one of my favorite places. I love it up there. can be a very busy trail but I think its worth it. It's a nice hike, I see kids doing it regulary.

Spent two nights near the top of the lake back in late May. Runoff was killer and we had to go off trail several times because the trail was underneath the water. several fallen trees over the trail. great views, would be better later in the season with trail maintenance and runoff down

Great hike, the scenery is breathtaking along the rapids as well as throughout the whole trail. If you can appreciate the simple things like wildflowers and butterflies.

This was a beautiful hike with great scenery especially the white water rapids of the stillwater river. There was many wildlife to look at and be aware of including grizzlies. The scenery was fantastic however the "lake" had some left to be desired. It was more of a wide river. The lake was not inspiring like other similar Montana hikes. If you want to see a cool lake, I would highly recommend elk lake, lost lake or mystic lake. A good hike nonetheless. Bring bear spray! 3.5 in is the "lake". This trail was beautiful. Wildflowers most of the way with great views of the mountains. Plan on mud though since the tails do cross a few streams. Took three kids and besides the three year old they were able to keep up and really enjoyed it. It's a well maintained path.

Moderately hard trail, a lot of up and down. Beautiful beginning and end but the middle was a little boring. The lake is more of just a wide space in the river, but beautiful down the valley

Great easy trail. Pretty level the whole way with beautiful scenery. Great early season hike, as it's low altitude.
