trail is through burn area, but beautiful wild flowers. St Mary's falls has incredible flowing water, beautiful teal color. we hiked into Virginia falls but actually liked St Mary's better.

Started at St Mary's Lake visitors center, took a side trail to Red Eagle to camp for the night, then continued on towards Gunsight Pass. Great start to a backpacking trip, with dramatic changes in scenery as you approach the mountains from the relatively flat trail. Great training day before you hit some more serious elevation changes!
