Nice walk in the woods. Not a lot of up & down. despite several cars in the lot, only came across 2 couples. Hardest part was the meadow where the trail was lost & we had to blaze our own way. sign at entrance said bear was sighted 3 days ago, so be safe & bring spray.
First solo hike alone in “Bear country” /MT. Whole new ball game in these neck of the woods. Beautiful trail, hike was 5miles total. Forget the name of the tail I believe it started with “Ch”..?? Anyways, it was definitely an adventure, I seen many many fresh beer tracks and scat so make sure to be packing in some manner. I had a gun and spray and my dog. Trails are marked perfectly. I was only one on trail entire time. This trailer as rated moderate maybe because of the distance I’m not sure but it was very easy to me no steep hills or anything crazy. Hiked on 6-21-2020
Nice, well-maintained, wooded trail with multiple loops with varying levels of difficulty. Dog friendly. We hiked 4-25-2020 and never crossed paths with anybody until the very end. CAUTION - the trail is seasonally flooded at a couple of low ground crossings so expect to back track if the water is still high, which may add about a mile and some change to your hike.
Best marked/blazed trail I've ever been on! There are maps at every intersection to show the individual where you are and what the intersection brings. The meadow loop is easy and relaxing. There are several other small trails off the meadow loop which you can go on to get more mileage or more elevations changes. Very fun and relaxing area! The trail has well defined cross country ski tracks, though I saw people snowshoeing the trail (I just hiked and had spikes in the event the ice was bad but didn't need them after all).
Great for Xcountry in the winter and Mtn biking late spring through summer and fall. Fairly popular year-round and a favorite with dog owners....recommend leashing until clear of other users! Deer and the occasional moose, fox and coyote is what I've seen, but I suppose cat, bear and even wolf inhabit the area from time to time.
