Lion Mountain Trail is a 2.6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Whitefish, Montana that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and bird watching and is best used from May until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This trail is a nice stroll through the woods. It is very easy and doable by all ages and experience. Note: If dogs are not under positive voice control, they must be leashed. Please remove pet waste with the provided mutt mitts.
Great little hike. Ground was still frozen. Don’t accidentally take the ridge hike turnoff like I did! And @Brooke I found your beanie!
This hike was great - I’d say you definitely need spikes/traction (I came from out of town, didn’t have any, and was slipping and sliding all over the place). Also - I lost my favorite beanie on the hike :( If you hike this in the coming days and find a green/orange hat I’m super sad we’ve separated! :) otherwise, enjoy
It was a super easy trail, good for families and the overlook is worth it. Good trail for a run
Love this easy loop. Great for biking and trail running, perfect for small kids too.
Fairly uneventful forest walk until the lake overlook, which made it all well worth it
this is a many trail system which gives you a good amount of choices and lots to see. the system is well marked and is popular with dogs as well as bikes. everyone is very courteous and I'd say that this combined with the overlook trail is worth it! I did it close to sunset and the overlook was gorgeous
Nice trail. Lotsa hikers, runners and joggers. All very nice. We’ll be back!
We did this loop with our 11 yr old son. We took the Overlook Loop too which I recommend for the bench with a view. It was an easy hike, but watch out for mountain bikes. It wasn't too crowded during the week but looks popular with locals and dogs. Would be great for trail running.
It’s fun to bike and probably also to hike. Took my cross bike on it (no suspension) so that should be a good indicator of at least biking difficulty
Very chill and dog friendly. Lots of shade. It ends with a cozy view of a small lake next to a ranch. Good for families looking for a nice walk. Not too crowded but seems popular for runners with their dogs.
