Good to do with dogs. If you take the "road" that goes by the nature pavilion on the loop back, it shortens it a bit. We were there in the afternoon and it was fairly busy. Lots of people with offleash dogs and on mountain bikes. People were mixed in terms of trail etiquette (yielding, controlling their dogs).

So, I wanted to give this a 3.5 but I feel it falls closer to 3 then 4 so there ya go. Pretty standard trail; clearly marked, well packed, and the like. Today (15 Dec 17) was snowy, so i feel it was better then it would normally be with the silence and such. Dog friendly, but be aware from spring-fall it's gonna be bear and cat country.

Great trail that is easy for kids and close to town. The golden larches are beautiful in the evening sun. Skyles Lake overlook was our destination.

Nice and easy. DIdn't see much at the end due to fires but still nice to explore.

A quaint trail with a nice lake overlook; it's just hard to be impressed here after a week in glacier np.
